Love One Another 1 John 4:7-8

April 14, 2022

When you’ve been loved it’s easier to love. God loved us with everything He had. It seems like it should be natural to love one another. But we always have our selfish flesh to deal with that wants things our way, our time and not to be inconvenienced. What does it mean to love one another? Just remember how God has loved you. He forgives your offenses and never holds a grudge. He loved you when you were unlovely. He is kind and patient and forgiving. But that’s God, right? I mean He can love like that because that’s who He is. But me- well…..

Remember, the same love you were loved with is also in you in the new birth. The love of God has been shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5). It’s in you. You don’t have to try to love. You have a deposit of the God kind of love in your spirit.

Therefore, it’s a choice to allow the love and forgiveness to flow or choose to be carnal and not forgive or withhold love. The wonderful thing about love is that it blesses both the giver and the receiver!

Questions:

  • Is somebody in my life hard to love? Why?
  • Have I forgiven that person?
  • Have I prayed for that person?
  • Have I thought of some good I can do for that person?
