Jesus provided peace for the whole man

October 24, 2022

Man is composed of three parts. He is an eternal spirit. He has a soul which is his mind and will and emotions. He lives in a physical body. God cared for all parts of our being . So, on the cross, Jesus paid the price for peace for our whole man. Today we’re going to examine these.

Isaiah 53:5 (AMP) But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.

1.Peace for our spirit

For the spirit, man receives righteousness which mean being right in our relationship with God. When we accept Jesus as Savior, we become born again into the family of God and have the rights of a son. We could never be righteous by our works or attempts. It took Jesus Himself to take our place and restore our relationship with God.

2.Peace for the body

The result of broken fellowship with God is physical sickness. Any time we violate the natural laws of nutrition or rest we also open the door for sickness. As the Scripture indicates, the stripes Jesus bore on His back were the payment for our sin and brought us physical healing. Just as we accept Jesus as Savior, we also can receive the physical healing and restoring of our bodies that was paid for by Jesus broken and beaten body. The result is peace or wholeness in our bodies. We were created to be physically whole but sin entered and brought with it the diseases of mankind.

3.Peace for the soul

A mind at rest is peaceful. A mind at rest is thinking positively and is healthy. The enemy would try to rob us of peace by planting thoughts of unworthiness or condemnation or fear in our minds. This scripture says “the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him”. Once again Jesus paid the price for us to have a peaceful mind and emotions. To maintain peace in the mind is to set the mind on God’s Word. Isaiah 26:3 states “Thou dost keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee.” Here is the reason we renew our minds with God’s Word so we have truth to replace the lies the enemy will present to our thoughts.

Thank You, Jesus for bringing peace to my spirit, my soul and my body!
