The idea of daily dwelling in the life of God is incredible. Jesus made the way when He saved us and restored relationship with our Heavenly Father. But merely accepting Jesus as Savior is entering the door. There is so much to living in the life of the Holy Spirit.
The Passion translation of Psalm 15:1 states “Lord, who dares to dwell with you? Who presumes the privilege of being close to you, living next to you in your shining place of glory? Who are those who daily dwell in the life of the Holy Spirit?”
Shining place of Glory
The Hebrew root word for sanctuary means “shining place”. I really like that visual. God’s presence is a sanctuary and it is a shining place. Sometimes we think of a physical place when we think of sanctuary. Could it be a shining place because of the One who is shining in that place? What is the atmosphere and attitude around God?
Romans 14:17 states: “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”
The outstanding characteristic of God’s shining face is that it is right or holy, it is peaceful and joyful and loving. Those are His most outstanding attributes to me. Notice meat and drink are not included in the kingdom of God. These are earthly concerns.
Daily dwell in the life of the Holy Spirit
So if the kingdom of God includes righteousness, peace and joy, these are how we know we are dwelling in His presence. First of all we come boldly because we have been made righteous by Jesus’ blood. We are not cowardly or fearful or condemned. We have received our forgiveness and right standing. (1 John 1:9)
Secondly when we dwell in the life of the Holy Spirit, we keep our peace and joy and love walk. We avoid living in the emotion or flesh realm which would take us out of peace, joy and love. Today, think about guarding your spiritual life by guarding your peace, joy and love and living in the precious shining place of God.
