Prayer that brings revelation

June 8, 2022

Everybody wants greater wisdom and revelation, right? Paul prayed some amazing prayers that opened up God’s wisdom and revelation that we benefit from today. His prayer for revelation brought and understanding to the church of what Jesus accomplished on the cross. Apart from that revelation that Christ is in us and the Spirit of God lives in us- we would scarcely live or pray differently than the Old Testament saints. Here is Paul’s prayer that works for us today.

Ephesians 1:17  That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

In this prayer, Paul prayed for a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him. How often we pray for things or natural wisdom. But when we pray to know Him better—the wisdom comes as a result. Too often our prayer life can become a grocery list instead of a love letter. Let us go deeper in our walk with God. When I have a revelation of God being my Provider—then I can thank Him He supplies my needs instead of begging him for the money I need. When I have a revelation of His love, then it is much easier to forgive that offense when I remember I have been forgiven something much greater. When I have a revelation of His power- then faith comes for the miracle I need. It all starts with revelation in the knowledge of Him.

Every problem is veiled in an opportunity to dig deeper into the Answer of His Word where everything we need is provided. And it’s not just head knowledge that will do it. You have to read and confess that He is your answer until it becomes real to you. For example when I need money, I don’t first pray for money. I take some time and scriptures like “My God shall supply all my need according to His riches in glory” and talk to God about it. Lord, it is written that You supply all my need according to Your riches. I know you love me and want to supply. You have riches and ability to bring what I need. I don’t doubt Your Word and I don’t doubt Your love. You also told us to ask- so I’m asking for $500 for this need. You have provided in the past. And I thank You for hearing my prayer and for the provision. And now every time I think about it, I thank Him He is working on the request. According to the Word He has given, I believe I receive what He promised to supply.
