How to Stir up your Joy

March 30, 2022

Rejoice means to stir up your joy. It is translated as cheer up. As a kid I liked to drink chocolate milk which we made from white milk and Nestles Quick. I placed a couple spoons of the powder in my drink. But it was necessary to stir it up with a spoon. Although the chocolate powder was in there, it had to be stirred into the liquid to get the chocolaty taste. Similarly, the joy of the Lord is in you, but has to be stirred up.

1.Nobody can rejoice for you

You can help and be helped in many areas. But just like nobody can eat for you, nobody can rejoice for you. That is your responsibility to keep cheered up. Rejoicing is a decision not a feeling. Rejoicing is choosing to thank God for what He has done and who He is.

2.Recognize Joy is in you

Joy is in you when you have God’s Spirit living in you. Galatians 5:22 states that “ the fruit that the Spirit produces in a person’s life is  joy”. It isn’t something you try to be or do. It is simply the presence of God in you. Therefore, wherever God is, there is joy. And that joy has been deposited in you. You have the DNA of God. Naturally you may resemble your biological parents in how you look due to your DNA. But have you considered your spiritual DNA?

3.You stir up joy by rejoicing

Your words, praises, thanks or any audible worship are the ways you rejoice. You simply are reminding your mind that God is a great God. Here are some stir sticks that when spoken or sung aloud will stir up your joy. Remember, don’t just think them, say them aloud and believe what you say!

  • I am a child of God and Have His nature in me.
  • I am forgiven and purchased by Jesus’ blood
  • Jesus never leaves me or forsakes me
  • I have value and am precious to God
  • My God never fails. He is never late. He hears and answers my prayers
  • God loves me and cares about everything in my life
  • My life has purpose and God has a wonderful plan for my life
