How do you identify yourself?

November 4, 2022

Too often we identify with the sinful person we were before becoming a believer in Jesus. But we are washed from our sins in His blood. The scripture indicates we have been made kings and priests through the blood of Jesus and the new birth.

Rev 1:5  And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Rev 1:6  And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

In what way are we kings?

We have authority through the new birth. We become kings because we are in the family of the King of kings. We are kings because we are in Christ- the King of kings. Jesus is the Prince of the kings (that’s us) on the earth. We serve God and others. We also rule over the enemy’s works. We’re born to dominion- not over people but over the devil’s works. The enemy is under our feet through the name of Jesus.

We’re identified as priests

One of our callings is to minister to Him as priests. This can involve bringing praise to Him and also bringing prayers to Him. The priest also hears from God to the people. Since we are all priests, we don’t have to hear from God through another human, but can hear from Him ourselves.

So, in our worship services we are to minister to Him as priests. Other times we may be declaring our freedom or our victory much as a king would.  We have relationship with our Heavenly Father. Out of that relationship, we have a position in God’s family. From that position we are given authority over the enemy in Jesus’ name.
