God's Names Prayer

How does the Holy Spirit help you?

May 31, 2022

What would be your ideal helper? The kind of person who knows you so well that he knows what you need without being told? The helper who gives just the right advise and direction to assist you in every project. Would you want a helper who didn’t leave you until the very last job was finished? The Holy Spirit is the perfect helper and there is none like Him.

When Jesus prayed to the Father on our behalf, He knew we would need help (lots of it!) The Amplified Version really is specific when it describes the job description of the Holy Spirit.

“He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby) that He may remain with you forever.” John 14:16

He is a Comforter

Sometimes you don’t need to know what to do as much as you need comfort. The Holy Spirit helps you in times of grief or great sadness and brings comfort that exceeds any human assistance.

He is a Counselor

Because the Holy Spirit is God, He knows everything. Therefore He can give you perfect counsel every time. He knows your thoughts and attitudes and motives. Many times He speaks to us through a Scripture that comes alive. Sometimes it’s a hunch or inner knowing about a decision. (God is Your Hiding Place)

He is an Intercessor

When words aren’t enough, He is able to help us pray to the Father. He assists our prayers by giving us supernatural utterance as we speak in tongues.

He is our Advocate

When others may not stick with us, He always will. He will stand with us through thick and thin.

He is our Strengthener

The Holy Spirit who lives within us brings strength. Spiritual strength comes as we read the Word and it feeds us. Emotional strength comes when we are encouraged God loves us. Physical strength comes when the healing power of God ministers to us.

He is our Standby

The word Helper is translated “the One called alongside to help”. He is always ready and able to assist in any decision or endeavor. We don’t have to do life alone. We have a Divine Helper. Don’t forget to ask for His help today!
