3 expressions of thanks

August 31, 2022

“Why don’t you bring Me the sacrifices I desire? Bring me your true and sincere thanks and show your gratitude by keeping your promises to me, the Most High. Honor me by trusting in me in your day of trouble. Cry aloud to me and I will be there to rescue you.” Psalm 50:14-15 TPT

Religion tries to sacrifice things to please God. The word for sacrifice means a truly precious gift. It means bringing our best. But what sacrifice really pleases Him? This scripture indicates three things.

  1. Gratitude from the heart indicates not merely empty words or repetitive phrases or religious traditions. In other words, put your heart into it!
  2. Gratitude with words reveals to us that in addition to a heart of adoration, words should accompany that gift. It’s not enough to love God, but He wants us to talk with Him and communicate both our praises and our turmoils so He can walk through it with us
  3. Gratitude with actions. An action of thanksgiving to God is to turn over our cares because it tells Him we trust His wisdom and His heart. Another action is to include Him in our trials and triumphs. Just like any friend, he wants to cry with you and also celebrate life with you. He appreciates it when we take time to thank Him that He is our answer.
