What does it mean to have an Everlasting Father?

August 30, 2022

Everybody has an earthly father. A great father lives with and enjoys his children and provides for their physical and emotional needs. Earthly fathers pale in comparison to the Everlasting Father. Let’s look at what it means to have an Everlasting Father. Jesus fulfilled the following prophecy:

Isaiah 9:6  “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called ………The everlasting Father”

1.We become a part of an eternal family

Once we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are born into a new family. This family has a Father who will never leave or abuse or neglect in any way. This Heavenly Father is Everlasting. He won’t die or leave you alone. This family has brothers and sisters. This family is both on earth and heaven. This family is eternal and won’t pass when we die.

2.We enjoy the benefits of God’s family

Without Jesus, there is no Everlasting Father. None of us could approach God because of our sin. But by His death, Jesus made a way for us to be born again into God’s family. Jesus came because He wanted us to be able to live with His Father in heaven and experience heaven’s joys on earth. There are benefits to being in the family. You have access to the name of Jesus in prayer. You have authority over the enemy’s works. You have the presence of God in your daily life. You have His provision and supply.

3.We have a heavenly Daddy

I love Galatians 4:6  “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.” In this case the word Abba is added before Father and indicates the meaning “Daddy”. This word implies a personal affection for the biological father. Dare we believe we can be affectionate with our spiritual Father? Even though He resides in heaven, He also resides in our hearts through the Holy Spirit. So, yes, He is near to us and in our heart.

Thank You Jesus for introducing me to Your Father. Thank You Father for providing for my needs. Thank You, Abba, that I can draw near You who came to live in my heart.
