3 amazing things about God’s love

August 29, 2022

Real love is sometimes difficult to comprehend. God’s love is in a class all its own. He loved you before you knew Him. He loves you in spite of your mistakes and shame. His love never fails to reach and change things it touches. Our understanding is limited. His love is limitless.

1. God’s Love Is Different Than Any Other Love You’ve Experienced

Romans 8:38-39 (MSG) I’m absolutely convinced that nothing — nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, 39 high or low, thinkable or unthinkable — absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.

The word love has many uses, but God’s love is in a class all its own. Human love will stop when things get tough. Human love doesn’t reciprocate when it’s not returned. In contrast, God’s love never changes or alters when it’s not returned. Nobody can take you from God’s love. If it’s too good to believe, then it’s God’s love. God really does forgive and forget and then restore.

2. God’s Love Is A Love That Overflows

Romans 5:5 (Way) “This hope is no delusive one, as is proved by the fact that the brimming river of God’s love has already overflowed into our hearts, on-drawn by His Holy Spirit, which He has given to us”

Not only does God’s love change the receiver, it also overflows from us to others. The same love we receive is the love that overflows from us. God’s love is measureless and never stops coming. Therefore, there is a supply of God’s love in me to shower on others. It’s not a matter of trying to love. It’s a decision to release love and forgiveness and grace to others.

3. Through God’s love I Can Love My Enemies

Matthew 5:44 (NCV) But I say to you, love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you.

An enemy is an adversary. It is someone in your way or an irritant. The ability to pray helps that other person. But, it also frees me to see the other person like God does. Compassion rises in my heart instead of judgment. When I love somebody I speak well of them and do good to them rather than retaliate. We call this “tough love” because it’s sometimes hard to do.
