When we open the Bible we have in our hands the most wonderful record of God. The Bible doesn’t just contain God’s Words, it is His Word. The Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is God speaking to me. So the primary way God speaks to us is through the Word of God, the Bible.
Holy men of old were inspired by God to record what He spoke. Men painstakingly recorded the Bible. Others gave their lives to see it translated into their native language. Without the Bible, we would not understand God or Jesus or our own purposes. Not only does it guide us to God initially, it guides us through life perpetually.
The Holy Spirit will never guide you contrary to what the Bible teaches. The Holy Spirit does prompt you to certain passages that you need every day. Not only does He show us how to live, He empowers us to live.
How much do you esteem God’s Word and want Him to speak to you? The answer is to the degree you will read it and make it the directing voice of your life. Because the Holy Spirit is a person, He knows you and desires to help you through life. He will use the words of Scripture to guide and direct you.
