God Rewards Your Serving

January 16, 2022

Today I want to remind you that God will reward your service. Rewards are good things. They are benefits. They come when we serve the Lord Jesus and His Kingdom.

“Put your heart and soul into every activity you do, as though you are doing it for the Lord himself and not merely for others. For we know that we will receive a reward, an inheritance from the Lord, as we serve the Lord Yahweh” Colossians 3:22-23 TPT

This passage of Scripture is encouraging. But it is also challenging. I remind myself that I am serving Jesus first and not my company or my church. When I serve Jesus I realize it doesn’t always matter if I get the promotion. When I serve Jesus it doesn’t matter if other people don’t see what I do- because He does. When I serve Jesus I know I will always be rewarded justly.

This passage directs our service to come from the heart. Whenever discouragement comes in I remember Jesus sees my heart. When I give it my best rather than just enough to get by it spurs me to excellence. Jesus never deserves mediocrity from me because He always gives me His best. Mostly whole-hearted service is an attitude adjustment. When others may do only enough to get by, I choose to give it my all.

Just this week I saw an example of God’s favor on a faithful non-salaried worship leader. He received an entire kitchen of stainless steel appliances for $500. They needed new appliances and this was the kind they desired. Although they weren’t paid for their service by man, they were rewarded by God.

It doesn’t matter if your service is a paid staff position or a volunteer one. Serve as though you were getting paid top dollar. Because Jesus will reward you both in this life and the next for what you do for Him.  You are helping build God’s Kingdom, so He will reward you!
