Psalm 28:7 “The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.”
Whatever kind of strength we need (physical, emotional, spiritual) is in the Lord. His strength supercedes natural empowerment. He strengthens us through His Spirit and His Word speaking to our hearts from within. His Word and Spirit also are the source of healing. And certainly the presence of the Spirit of God brings us comfort, counsel and soul strength by infusing us with hope.
What do you picture when you see a shield? Most shields in the Old Testament days were not hand-held but full body size carried by an armor-bearer. This means the shield of the Lord would cover you completely!
Who can we trust like the Lord who is always faithful? He is here to help. When we remember what He has done and will continue to do in our lives, we focus on His faithfulness. Whatever we focus on becomes either our joy or our despair. He will either bring us out of every situation or empower us to overcome what we walk through.
Let’s take time right now to focus on what the Lord has done and will continue to do. Then burst out in songs of thanksgiving!
