Devotion about what it means to prosper

    October 17, 2021

God is such a wonderful Father. He wants your life to be blessed. In today’s devotion, let’s look at the following scripture:

3 John 1:2  Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

First of all, you are beloved. You are God’s child and He wants good things for you. You are in His family and therefore belong and have certain family benefits.

    Secondly, God desires you prosper

The Greek word used here for prospering  means to have help for your journey and supply for the road your life takes. It means that you succeed in business affairs and every area of life. It includes but isn’t limited to financial provision. When you prosper you have more than enough for your needs and plenty to give away as you choose.

Thirdly, God wants you be healthy physically and mentally.

Physical wholeness enables you to complete your plan and purpose on this earth. You were created for a purpose that God supplies. One area of life that satan will continually try to steal from you is physical health. You absolutely must know that God is your healer and Jesus died not only for your sins but that your physical body be whole on this earth. Mental wholeness means you walk in peace and joy rather than fear and worry. We must resist both sickness and the attack on our minds by using God’s Word and speaking to these enemies whenever they attack. Be assured, Jesus wants you healthy because He paid for your sickness!

Finally, Keep a big picture of prosperity

Since the phrase “even as” means “just as much as”, we could say “God desires you to financially prosper and physically be strong as much as He wants your mind and emotions to be at peace. We can’t prosper at the expense of our relationships either. Workaholics are not what this scripture is endorsing. God wants every area of your life to be in balance and blessed!
