What are you saying to Yourself?

October 20, 2022

Whether we realize it or not, we are constantly talking to ourselves. It may be in our thought life. It could be occasionally out loud. What you say to yourself is very important. Nobody else can monitor your mind but you. And thinking about what you are thinking about is important. What we think about will trickle into our emotions. Check your emotions and then check what you’ve been thinking about and you will discover why you feel as you do.

In the season of Merry and Ho, ho. Ho we are confronted with the message you should be happy. As believers we may not always feel happy but we can always be joyful because we are loved and forgiven and blessed. We have expectation that the troubled places will become peaceful again. David the psalmist understood this and it is recorded how he spoke to himself when he was troubled.

Psalm 43:5  Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

  • If you are sad- why? Have you accepted a loss as permanent? Have you somehow believed a lie that life won’t improve? Have you forgotten to forgive yourself for something you have done?
  • My best days are now – I choose this day to be happy. Why wait another day to decide that certain set of events to occur before I become happy? We are told to hope in God. Man may not have our answers but God does and wants to help us.
  • Praising God is the antidote for discouragement. We praise Him because He has and is the answer. Nothing is too dead for a resurrection! God has proven that when He raised Jesus – and you- from death, hell, grave, sin, and sickness.
  • It’s not the situation you face that is your problem- it’s how you face the situation
