Ways to Pursue Your Passion

July 25, 2022

Passion is so vital. It keeps us going when things get tough. It drives our life vision and also gives us daily purpose. We never acquire the fullness of our passion, but we never quit. Today I want to encourage you to locate your passion and then schedule time into your schedule to accomplish it.

“I admit that I haven’t yet acquired the absolute fullness that I’m pursuing, but I run with passion into his abundance so that I may reach the purpose that Jesus Christ has called me to fulfill and wants me to discover.”  Philippians 3:12 The Passion Translation

Can you state your passion?

Passion can be to know God more. You can be passionate about prayer or studying the Word. You can be passionate about the lost or planting a church. Our stated passions should be what we look at when we decide to take on another project or purchase. Will this purchase or project propel me closer to completing my passion? Or will this deter me? God has made you for His purpose and there is something special for each of us to pursue that may look different than someone else’s passion.

Is your passion reflected in your weekly schedule?

We don’t magically fulfill our passions until our passion is reflected in our weekly schedule. When I decided I had a passion to learn to play piano I began in 1st grade and pursued it weekly during my school years and into college. Many people want to do something well (like play an instrument) but don’t make the commitment to a weekly lesson and then to a daily practice time. When it becomes daily, it becomes a realized passion. Look at your schedule and you may see why you are or are not getting closer to fulfilling your passion. Even an hour a week can drive you closer to completing your passion.
