4 things the Bible reveals about Truth

May 15, 2022

Oh the question of the ages “what is truth?” There are lots of ideas from man, but let’s look at what God says about truth today.

1. Jesus is the truth and only way to God

John 14:6 states   “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” That’s so bold that you must decide if Jesus is telling the truth or He’s deceived or He’s lying. I believe He’s telling the truth!

2. God’s Spirit is referred to as the Spirit of Truth

Again in John 15:26 Jesus said “ But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me”. The Spirit of God is the One who reveals Jesus as truth to every man, woman and child. It’s interesting that the Spirit of God not only comforts us- sometimes He discomforts us too! He shows us areas of our lives that need to be Spirit-led!

3.Truth makes us free

Finally, Jesus said in John_8:32  “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Have you noticed that religion usually binds people? But the truth that I need a Savior and His name is Jesus frees me from a life of constant condemnation. When I own up to the fact I need a Savior instead of a religion, I’m free. I’m free to not have to cover up and try to live right to please God or others. I live right because the Spirit of God lives in me and gives me direction and ability to do so. Christianity isn’t a list of laws- rather it’s one thing- I need a Savior!

4. His truth endures to all generations

Truth endures. It doesn’t change with the fashion. It doesn’t go out of date. Truth is the same yesterday, today and forever. Oh what a joy to know the Truth! His name is Jesus! Scripture says “and his truth endureth to all generations.” Psalm 100:5b

“Everyone knows our God can be trusted, for he keeps his promises to every generation!” Psalm 100:5b Passion translation

And He walks with me and He talks with me

and He tells me I am His own.

And the joy we share as we tarry there

None other has ever known.
