Leadership

Leaders aren’t exempt

August 2, 2022

Sometimes leaders can feel they are above reproach just because they have a title or position. It might seem God has approved them, so they are free to live any way they choose. But the Bible doesn’t support that position.

Moses and Aaron were leaders mightily used of God. Yet in Numbers 20:10-12 we see they was as human we are. They must have grown impatient with the constant complaining and griping of the congregation and just flat our got angry enough to hit something. (Ever been there?)

Numbers 20:10,11 “and Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock and he said to then, “Hear now you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?” Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with this rod and water came out abundantly and the congregation and their animals drank.”

So Moses Aaron lost their patience and the sad thing is, they paid the price for their response in not entering into all that God had for them. Let’s continue….Numbers 20:12

“Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”

The moral of the story is that leaders are not exempt from following God even when other people press them or they become angry. Let’s keep our cool so we can eat the good of the land!
