Devotion about Jesus healing brokenhearted

December 21, 2020

As long as there are people, there will be hurt feelings and some broken hearts. Jesus actually came to heal broken hearts. In today’s devotion we will examine some things about the brokenhearted.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because I am marked out by Him to give good news to the poor; he has sent me to make well those who are brokenhearted; to say that the prisoners will be let go, and the blind will see, and to make the wounded free from their chains.” Luke 4:18 BB

Everyone faces heartaches

John 6:66 records Jesus’ experience with heartache. “at this point many of  his disciples turned away and deserted him.” Jesus was perfect and yet many (not just a few) deserted him. It’s hard to imagine walking away from Jesus until we realize that anybody can get deceived or hurt or offended and leave. Paul recorded that Demas deserted him (2 Timothy 4:9-11). God experiences our rejection as a world almost daily. But His divine love still reaches out and doesn’t pull back because it is rejected. Divine love gives period. Whether it is received or reciprocated.

Jesus understands and heals

Sometimes it’s comforting to know someone else understands what you are feeling when your heart is broken. Knowing God cares and has the power to heal you is the first step to being made whole. Take your broken heart to Jesus today. He understands and His perfect love will fill every vacuum in your heart. “If God be for me, who can be against me?” You are never alone and never forsaken of God.
