3 things the resurrection power of Jesus gives us

October 28, 2020

When you think about Jesus’ resurrection, what does it mean to you personally? Is is just that Jesus conquered over death for Himself? Of is His victory actually yours as well? It was Paul’s prayer that we would be aware of the strength that is made available to us through the resurrection.

“and that you will be aware of the incredibly immense strength which is available to us. You see, we have access to resurrection- to the strength and power God demonstrated in Christ when he raised him from death.” Ephesians 1:19-20 Johnson translation

1.Resurrection power gives us the new birth

By far the most widely accepted and understood is that by faith in Jesus as our Savior, we are able to be born again. Because Jesus took our sins and forgave them, He gave us the right to become sons of God. This is a powerful regeneration of our old sinful spirit that was separated from God into a new creature who can approach God. We become brand new creatures (2 Corinthians 5:17) because we are “in Christ” family.

2.Resurrection power gives us a place of dominion over all works of the devil

Through this new creation person we are also given rights of the “family of God”. Among these is access to the name of Jesus over each and every work of the enemy. In this life there are enemies and we can both pray to God in Jesus’ name about these enemies, but also we can command the enemy in Jesus’ name using His authority. This means that sickness and lack and fear all must bow to the name of Jesus.

3.Resurrection power gives us abundant life

The same spirit that raised Christ from the dead also raised us up with Him. The new creation persons we have become actually gives us the DNA of God in our spirits. We have the fruit of God’s Spirit living in us. It is no longer a religious exercise to try to become a good person. Now, we have the DNA of God and His actual abundant life living in our spirits. The more we know what belongs to us, the greater our privilege as well as responsibility. This life must be accessed by faith.
