How to respond to stress

August 17, 2020

Hold your peace

Sometimes we have to give a situation to the Lord and let Him work it out. As a believer, peace belongs to us but we have to hold onto it. Negative situations or people can come into our lives and we can focus on them and let go of our peace. Peace is a powerful spiritual force that can keep us steady when storms arise. Remaining at rest is our response to casting the care of a trial upon Him. Then when the opportunity arises to take the care again, we can remind ourselves- I’m at rest and God is at work. We have to leave it in His hands.

Exodus 14:14 “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest.”

Wait before you Respond

At times we need to not deal with a person or situation immediately but rest a day or so. By doing so we sometimes discover in the heat of the moment we would say or do something we might not otherwise do. Hold your peace when you want to deal with problems immediately. Sometimes we want to run or leave because we are hurt. Hold your peace. Go to God with the situation and get back into peace before you DO something.
