Personal Devotions Praise and Worship

Praise is for Everybody

August 14, 2020

Praise isn’t limited to musically inclined people. Praise and worship isn’t merely a portion of a church service. Praise is a part of our life. Praise is both spoken and sung. It is not limited to musicians or singers. Praise is an integral part of every believer’s life. Praise keeps our relationship with God vibrant. Angels praise God around the throne in heaven constantly. I like to think about every time I praise God I am joining an ever-flowing river of praisers world-wide. I simply step into the stream. And when I begin to praise, I become aware of God’s presence and His Spirit in me.

Is our goal for worship services to perform a beautiful concert? Or should it be to engage everyone (musician and non-musician alike) in connecting with God through spoken and sung praise?  Worship leaders are musicians, but we are also teachers and preachers. We have a responsibility to both teach songs and encourage all the congregation to look to God and express their praise.

Do we give our congregations songs to take home and sing through the week? Are they simple enough for all to sing?

Key Points to Discuss

  • Is your personal praise both spoken and sung?
  • Are our worship service songs limited to musicians or singers
  • Is one of our goals to engage the entire congregation to sing?
  • As a music team are we performing or informing?
  • Do you see spectators or participators  in your praise service?
  • Am I modeling praise at home to my children?
