You have a Helper

February 4, 2020

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

How wonderful it will be to see Jesus face to face one day. But we have a Helper Who is with us today. Jesus told us this Helper would come to us when we became believers. This wonderful Helper is the Holy Spirit. He is so wonderful because He lives in each of us. His presence is always available to us. However, sometimes we get too busy to ask for His help. Sometimes we don’t listen to His still small voice.

Jesus told us the day the Holy Spirit came to live in us was even better than having Jesus in person. When Jesus took on a human body, He limited himself to time and space. But the Holy Spirit of God is not limited and is always present. The reason we live in a better day is that we have God’s presence and direction available every day all day long. Every one of us! At the same time!

Today, let’s acknowledge His presence as a friend. Let’s turn to Him for wisdom. Let’s listen to His still small voice when we pray or give counsel or offer a response. Perhaps we need to listen to Him tell us to just be still and know He is God.
