What to do when your dream isn’t coming to pass

July 9, 2022

Not every dream you have is God’s dream. Not every dream you have will come to pass because God is not in it. Some dreams are right for somebody else but not for you. Notice the plans God plans won’t happen right away. When you get God’s plan for your life and His vision- then it is His responsibility to bring it to pass. Our own plans can wear us out. We reason how to make something work or come to pass.

“But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. It if seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!” Habbakkuk 2:3 TLB

Can we submit our wills or plans to God and really ask Him if it’s the pizza we had last night or the Spirit leading us? Is it our own ambitions or the purpose of God’s Kingdom? One size does not fit all. Just because Bobby Smith does something in his church doesn’t mean it’s right for us. God has no responsibility to fulfill OUR vision, but will certainly complete the one He gives us.

Sometimes I wait a few days, weeks or months and see if the vision still burns brightly in my heart to determine if it’s God or just me. Once I feel it is God, then I would submit it to the counsel of a person I trust. If they don’t offer some obvious objections, then it is worth consideration.

Questions

  • Have I honestly submitted my plan or dream to God?
  • Is it His plan or mine?
  • Am I willing to pay what it will cost in time and diligence to see it come to pass?
